To have a straightforward relationship, do you alter?
Women…
- wear makeup
- wear lipstick, gloss, lip liner
- pluck or thread their eyebrows
- use eyeliner, mascara
- dye and style their hair
- wear high heels to be taller
- accent with jewelry and accessories
- sleep in creams
- shave hair
- paint their nails
- cover their body with stylish clothes
While Men…
shave, wash, wear clothes and ready to go.
Do we alter so much to have an honest relationship with men? Don’t look at your screen with violent reactions. I believe the things I mentioned are all the physical improvements that some women do to be a magnet for the opposite sex and good sign that you are taking care of yourself. I don’t consider them alterations but grooming, because being extremely tidy does not always show a dishonest personality. To have a straightforward relationship, you have to go further than the outside and get to know more the person on the inside.
Men say they fancy natural and real beauty, but we know what they really like, or else they would not drool over the glammed up girls. But what do men really want? Makeup or without makeup? Some men like it when their women wear makeup because she outlines her natural beauty with wearing it. Please remember that outlining is different from covering. Makeup is meant to emphasize, accentuate, and bring out some features. Actually, since men are known to have a not so retentive mind, if you wear makeup and guys don’t notice it, it’s probably not too much. Guys love it when you make a little bit of an effort. Just don’t overdo it or else you will end up looking like a fat clown.
My honey prefers natural beauty like, shower fresh, clean and natural because censored, but he does not mind a little make up because he is sure that 80% of my body needs these cosmetics. lol.
Unforced honey bought me a Maybeline Blushing Berry lipstick — I picked the color — and here’s the evidence:

I have heard one black American comedian (forgot the name)said that women daw are the greatest liar of the world. Yun nga tulad ng mga ni-post mo. WOmen daw wear heels so that they are taller (which they are not), wear blush on to make their cheeks blush (which not) so on and so forth..
Hehehe

I don’t really dress to impress anyone on a daily basis (perhaps if i’m going to dinner or something, you know) but on a daily basis, when I do my makeup/hair etc. I do it because it makes me feel better about myself. Not that I don’t feel good about myself when i’m not dressed up.. Just that when you’re nicely showered, have a good perfume on, nice clothes etc. you generally feel better about yourself and for me, my confidence goes up a little. It takes me out of that “slump” sometimes I guess

Out of the things on the list I only shave and wear high heels. But any grooming I do, isn’t to attract guys, it’s because I want to. I shave b/c hair’s nasty, lol. I wear high heels because I’m 5′. I sometimes wear makeup because it’s fun!
Bryan hates it when I wear makeup btw. But when i do wear it, it’s usually for like halloween or something and over the top. If I just put on a little eyeliner and blush, he doesn’t notice.

I don’t really wear makeup. When I am dating someone, my beauty stays the same as it were before I met the guy. A lot of my friends go nuts trying to change themselves for a guy. My opinion: if the guy cannot accept me the way that I am before dating him, do I really need him? Hm, no.
Btw, I love the color of your lipstick! When I was in high school and tried the whole lipstick thing, I ended up eating it off of my lips….

I agree with you. I like to keep myself well groomed, not particularly for my boyfriend but for myself. My self esteem seems to rise when I pamper myself, which i tend to do on a weekly basis. I hate when make up is overdone. I tend to go for a natural, glowing look. =)

nakuh, makeup is something that i haven’t busied myself with for a looooong time now, even when I go out on a meeting with clients. I have this dark pink tinted lip gloss in my knapsack (see, knapsack ha nde handbag) and small comb, and that’s it. In my case kasi it’s a hassle, because i have such an oily face, which means i’ll have to do so many things before I can get my face ready for makeup and THEN i need to get the makeup on, which of course melts in less than an hour (less than 30min in this Manila heat these days). Haynaku, I wish my face (kahit nga my face nga lang eh) were more cooperative with makeup!

I don’t really wear make up. In fact, I don’t like wearing them. But I guess, a bit of make up won’t hurt. Usually just a natural colour lip gloss. Lol. I’ve never wore eyeliners before so I thought of giving it a try one day. And my bf noticed it straight away. I didn’t feel comfortable so I never wear it again since.
Oh well, natural looks are the best!

Let’s not get moral about makeups.
Anything that helps in enhancing looks and hygience and doesn’t cost a bomb should be encouraged. Good looks always make me more confident. I makeup to feel confident.
However, it is up to the individual to decide what and which makeover suits oneself. So there’s no issue of not being true to oneself. That’s my point of view.

I just really enjoy getting dressed up, so I don’t really consider it to be changing myself. However, I don’t really tend to wear a lot of makeup since I don’t really need it. Most of the time, people think I am wearing makeup when I don’t have any on.
